SALISBURY — Local departments and the N.C. Forestry Service battled a multi-acre vegetation fire off of Webb Road on Wednesday.
The fire began Wednesday afternoon on the property of the Seven Islands Environmental Solutions solar farm along South Main Street, between the Peeler Road and Webb Road intersections, confirmed Interim Rowan County Fire Division Chief Allyson Summitt. She said the fire did not affect the solar farm or damage any structures, having been controlled in the nearby vegetation.
Multiple Rowan County fire departments were still assisting the N.C. Forestry Service with digging containment lines at 6 p.m. The fire had been contained to an approximately two-acre area, said Summitt.
