MOUNT ULLA — South Rowan won three third-set tiebreakers, but West Rowan edged the Raiders 5-4 in Monday’s South Piedmont Conference tennis match.
South is 2-7 and West is 8-1 and in second place, but South is strong at the top. Sophie Steedley won the marquee match at No. 1 singles, coming back against West’s Autumn Yount after losing the first set, 6-1.
South’s Audrey Daniel dropped the first set at No. 2, but was able to come all the way back to beat West’s Laney Moore.
South also grabbed a win at No. 6 singles, where Jayden Overcash won the first set, lost the second set to Regan Eggers, and then prevailed on the third-set tiebreaker.
Steedley and Daniel cruised 8-2 at No. 1 doubles for the Raiders’ fourth win.
West won at 3, 4 and 5 singles with Olyvia Brown, Lucy Moore and Finley Vanwassenhove.
West had no trouble at 2 and 3 doubles. Brown-Lucy Moore and Laney Moore-Vanwassenhove were winning duos.

SALISBURY — Salisbury stayed undefeated in the SPC and one game ahead of the Falcons by routing Robinson 9-0 on Monday.
The Hornets (9-2, 9-0) welcomed Anna Kate Goodman back to the lineup, and she won at No. 3 singles and No. 1 doubles.
Meredith Williams, Lola Koontz, Gabbi Fatovic and Campbell Aron won their singles matches easily for the Hornets.
Williams teamed with Anna Kate Goodman at No. 1 doubles, while Koontz-Fatovic won at No. 2 doubles.
Robinson plays with five girls and always has to forfeit 6 singles and 3 doubles. The Bulldogs are still winless in the league.

CONCORD — Concord also plays with five but the Spiders (7-5, 6-4) are in fourth place in the SPC.
Concord won all seven contested matches in Monday’s 7-2 victory against Carson. The Cougars (3-6, 3-5) won by default at 3 doubles and 6 singles.
There were a couple of very close matches. Carson’s Annabel Morgan lost a tight one at No. 2 singles, while freshman Brooklyn Johnson was in a tough battle at No. 4.

GRANITE QUARRY — Northwest Cabarrus is in third place (7-3, 7-2) and won all of Monday’s matches at East Rowan.
Caroline Quick lost on a third-set tiebreaker at No. 2 singles. Quick-Katelyn Overcash lost 9-7 at No. 1 doubles.
