SALISBURY — You can never assume a routine CIAA football win, but Livingstone won even more easily than expected on Saturday evening, pummeling Lincoln 31-7.
The Blue Bears (3-1, 2-0) were in control all the way on the blue turf at Alumni Memorial Stadium. Lincoln didn’t score until 1:55 was left in the game, salvaging some pride and spoiling the shutout.
Livingstone is 2-0 at home and has won three straight games.
Livingstone threw for 240 yards and held Lincoln (0-4) to 42 net rushing yards. Those were the key stats.
Elijah Alexander threw two touchdown passes for a 14-0 lead. Jason Zapata kicked a 25-yard field goal for a 17-0 LC edge at the break.
Alexander and David Jones had scoring runs in the second half to boost the lead to 31-0.
Jordan Paul, Kenyan Garner, Kobe Pringle and Jayden Reeder had sacks for the Blue Bears. Garner had two tackles for loss and a forced fumble.
Next for Livingstone is a road game against Elizabeth City State. The Vikings are still winless. The schedule has been friendly for the Blue Bears so far.
