RALEIGH — Brooks Overcash, who broke a number of school records as South Rowan’s quarterback from 2022-24 including career TD passes and passing yards, hasn’t quite retired yet.
The future engineer tried out for the NC State club flag football team in late August — and not surprisingly, made the roster.
Club flag football started at NC State in 2019 and has been quite successful. Club flag football is a 7-on-7 game played in two 20-minute halves. The Wolfpack squad includes former Carson quarterback Alex London, a senior and the president of the NC State team.
The NC State team made the Elite 8 in the national tournament last December and led the tournament in sacks and passing touchdowns.
The team will start playing games this season in October and has major tournaments scheduled. The Wolfpack will play regional level competition at Georgia Southern, Virginia Tech and Charlotte and will play in a national event in Houston to cap the season.
NC State also has a women’s club flag football team.
