SALISBURY — Deputies are investigating after an eastern Rowan County resident reported being targeted by gunfire on Monday.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Monday, when a resident in the 1500 block of Lower Stone Church Road called and reported that someone had shot at their property. According to the caller, they heard five or six shots and saw a white sedan-style passenger car, potentially a Nissan or Infinity, according to Rowan County Sheriff’s Office reports.
The vehicle was reportedly occupied by two people, with a man in the passenger seat wearing all black clothing and a black mask allegedly leaning out of the vehicle firing shots.
Investigators reportedly determined that the residence was not hit by any of the gunfire, but they did locate several divots in the road that indicated that the weapon had been aimed at the ground.
The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Detective Fero at 704-216-8702 or Rowan County Crime Stoppers at rowancrimestoppers.org or by calling 1-866-639-5245.
