SALISBURY – Police have charged a local man in the early Friday morning armed robbery at Circle K on East Innes Street.
Salisbury police reports say 31-year-old Rudolph Afredo Smith entered the store armed with a machete and demanded money. He was given an undisclosed amount of cash, exited the store and left in a vehicle. Officers were able to watch surveillance video, confirm the vehicle that Smith left in and verify his identity.
No one was injured in the incident.
With the assistance of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle was located at a residence in the 600 block of Bringle Ferry Rd. Officers from both agencies took Smith into custody at that residence. Smith was charged with robbery with dangerous weapon and placed in the Rowan County Detention Center without bond.
“The Salisbury Police Department would like to thank the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in the apprehension of Mr. Smith,” said Major Justin Crews.
