MONROE — Zy’Quize Carpenter won the long jump at the AAU regional competition held in Monroe.
A rising junior at North Rowan, Carpenter competed for the Rowan Express in the 15-16 division and had a best leap of 20 feet, 3 inches.
Carpenter was Field MVP for boys for the Robert Steele Rowan County Championships.
Next for Carpenter will be the Junior Olympic Nationals in Houston.
