The Salisbury Rowan Choral Society announced the opening of its 115th season with two performances of its spring concert celebrating the joys of singing together. The concert, titled “With A Voice of Singing,” will feature a wide variety of pop and classical selections that pay homage to the joyous expression of emotions..
Under the creative direction of Emily Copeland, the concert will include “Sing a Mighty Song” by Daniel E. Gawthrop, “The Music’s Always There With You” by Sir John Rutter, “How Can I Keep From Singing” by Greg Gilpin, and “Sing,” made popular by the Carpenters. Music will be accompanied by Dustin Shelton.
The first concert will take place at 7 p.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church and the second concert will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at First United Church of Christ in Salisbury. Admission to both concerts is free.
In addition to celebrating the 115th season now, the organization is looking to the future with the launch of its Legato Legacy Campaign, a fundraising effort aimed at preserving its rich heritage and expanding its impact.
Funds raised will support seasonal concerts, educational outreach and performances in underserved communities, while also maintaining the group’s choral library and historical archives. Donations will also directly benefit the society’s conductor and musicians.
Supporters are invited to give at various levels, starting at $25, each with recognition benefits ranging from program mentions to exclusive event invitations. Contributions at the highest tier include acknowledgment on the front page of a concert program.
