SALISBURY — Southeast Middle School was placed under a hold and teach order on Friday.
In a message to student body families, Principal Amanda Macon said, “Due to a phone call to the front office this morning, SEMS was placed under a ‘hold and teach’ to secure the campus and investigate the call. School administrators monitored school activity during this time.”
According to the message, a hold and teach means that while school officials or local authorities are working on a situation, all students and staff remain in their classrooms and do not move through the building.
Local law enforcement reportedly investigated and found no viable safety concerns. The hold and teach was lifted at 10 a.m.
“We have resumed our regular daily activity,” Macon’s message noted. “Student safety is the highest priority for Rowan-Salisbury Schools, and we work diligently every day to ensure that our school remains a safe environment for all students and staff. We appreciate everyone’s efforts in working with us through that process.”
