Nobody was injured when a train crashed into a vehicle stuck on a railroad crossing in Landis on Monday evening.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. on the Ryder Avenue crossing, near the Ryder Avenue and North Main Street intersection. Landis Town Manager said that a passenger vehicle with one occupant was stuck on tracks.
When the occupant saw a train coming towards her, she was able to escape and get to safety, said Ambrose. Norfolk Southern also advised town officials that nobody on the train had been injured in the incident either.
Norfolk Southern police are investigating the incident, and Ambrose said that the Landis Police Department will also conduct a parallel investigation.
The train tracks are shut down by railroad police for the foreseeable future, said Ambrose, but the road crossing will remain open.
