SALISBURY — A Rowan County Sheriff’s Office deputy was hospitalized after a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 601 Monday evening.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:58 p.m. in the 5900 block of U.S. Highway 601, when a deputy lost control of the vehicle after suffering from a medical condition, according to a release from the sheriff’s office. The vehicle reportedly left the road before striking a small culvert and several trees and “rolling over multiple times,” according to the release.
The deputy was transported to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The N.C. State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said that they would release the identity of the deputy until his condition was further confirmed.
