DENTON — Project Santa, Inc. has received $3,500 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help nourish neighbors experiencing hunger.
The “Nourishing Our Neighbors” grant supports community feeding partners as they tackle food insecurity and promote healthier lifestyles through nutritional education initiatives.
“Project Santa, Inc. is so grateful and blessed to have received a $3,500 Grant Award from The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation, and its thousands of employees to work together in addressing hunger in the communities of Davidson and Eastern Rowan counties that the Project serves,” the organization said in a release. “Project Santa, Inc and its volunteers cannot express in words what it means to partner with Food Lion in ‘Nourishing Our Neighbors’ for the past 25 years. The $3,500 Grant Award will allow us to provide food for less fortunate children, individuals and families that face hunger every day in these communities.
“One of Project Santa’s missions is addressing food insecurity and promoting a healthier lifestyle for those less fortunate throughout the year. Food Lion’s support through this Grant is instrumental to Project Santa achieving this mission. Said Keith Garner of Project Santa, Inc.”
The release added that the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation is committed to supporting families facing food insecurity across its 10-state footprint. Established in 2001, the foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding local neighbors in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded nearly $23 million in grants.
