
SALISBURY — Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church will celebrate 133 years with its annual Moore’s Chapel Day on Sunday.
On Saturday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., the church will sponsor a Community Day in the parking lot. Free blood pressure checks, a Voter Registration Drive, games, food and fellowship will be available and is open to the public.
The Sunday morning service will be at 10 a.m. with Rev. Robert N. Kelley Jr. delivering the message. A fellowship dinner will follow the morning service. The afternoon service will be at 3 p.m. with the guest preacher, Rev. Dr. Amy Ciceron, and congregation from East Stonewall AME Zion Church in Charlotte.
Ciceron is a native of Lamar, South Carolina and a graduate of Lamar High School and Winthrop University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in social work. She earned a master of divinity degree from Hood Theological Seminary and a doctor of ministry degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio.
Ciceron worked as a social worker for 15 years and in 2008, she resigned to become a full-time pastor. She has served pastorates at Reeve’s Temple AME Zion Church in Davidson and Shiloh AME Zion Church in Statesville. She also served at St. Julia AME Zion Church in Jacksonville and has served East Stonewall AME Zion Church in Charlotte since 2022.
Ciceron has received numerous awards for her work in the communities she has pastored and has successfully guided congregations with food distribution ministries and support to families regarding the COVID-19 vaccine. She has also led capital improvements, strides in digital church and discipleship.
She has been married to Jean-Franck Ciceron for 27 years and they have two adult children. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. A sought after preacher, teacher, and workshop presenter, Ciceron desires to make a Kingdom difference. She has committed herself to he that vessel of healing wherever God calls her to minister.
