CLEVELAND — Fire departments from multiple counties combined to fight a fire in the Daimler Freightliner factory, 11550 Statesville Blvd., in Cleveland on Saturday.
The fire began at approximately 11:15 a.m. in the area of the paint booth room, said a fire official on scene. A worker on scene said that all of the workers at the facility were able to leave the building and the fire official confirmed that there were no injuries.
The fire was a three-alarm incident, which issues a call for all available units. Departments from throughout Rowan County responded along with Iredell County departments.
At one point, a firefighter fell through a portion of the structure, prompting a “mayday” call, but they were able to be rescued without serious injuries.
Crews continue to work on the fire.
