I am writing this in hopes of support for our organization, Wreaths for Veterans. This organization was formed in December 2016 in Salisbury. This small organization is a non-profit organization in Salisbury that was formed out of the heart of two veterans and a patriot, after hearing a small child ask her grandmother “why doesn’t my grandfather have a wreath” on his grave?
Each year, in December, there is a national movement called Wreaths Across America Day. Each month, on the last Tuesday of the month (January-November), a group of veterans and patriots meets at Kennedy-Hall Post in Cleveland, at 6:30 p.m. to review each months’ demographics and plan for the upcoming year. Our aim and hope is that every veterans’ grave that is allowed to have one will be provided with a fresh honor wreath. This cannot happen without help and support from our community!
Wreath For Veterans serves Salisbury specifically. There are over 16,000 graves at the VA Annex in Salisbury alone. This does not account for the Historic National Cemetery across town. In order to ensure that each grave has an honor wreath, our organization raises funds so that we can subsidize what is not brought on the Wreaths Across America truck. Each fresh wreath we fundraise and place is made in the local N.C. mountains.
Although it is early on in the year, we would appreciate your support to honor these noble men and women and their families. Let’s all come together and make it happen this year! Donations can be made directly through our website or by scanning the QR code you may pick up at an event we are stationed at. We hope to be able to attend more this year and would appreciate any partnerships we could have. Our veterans and their families deserve better!
